The European INTERREG ELAN project on linguistic exchanges and innovative learning through mobility in the Caribbean region
Campus France is a partner in the ELAN project financed by the European Union’s INTERREG Caribbean program. ELAN is a French acronym for linguistic exchanges and innovative learning through mobility. The purpose of the project is to increase the mobility of students and professionals in the Caribbean Basin and to strengthen language learning in the Caribbean region.
Managed by the Academy of Martinique and its public interest group on continuing education and career development (GIP-FCIP), the ELAN project has a budget of €3 million, of which €2.2 million is provided by the EU through the European Regional Development Fund and the European Development Fund.
Through its two major action areas—student and professional mobility and the development of language skills in the Caribbean region—ELAN strives to:
- Strengthen employability and job placement for young Caribbeans,
- Stimulate the competitiveness and investment appeal of the participating countries and territories,
- Encourage the emergence of a shared Caribbean identity as a foundation for successful and sustainable regional integration.
ELAN brings together a large number of partners, some within the EU and others outside it:
- The (French) Academy of Martinique and its GIP-FCIP
- The French territory of Martinique
- The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States
- Campus France
- The network of Alliance Française chapters in the Lesser Antilles
- The University of the West Indies
- Quisqueya University
- The State University of Haiti
- The University of the Antilles
Campus France played a very active part in setting up the project and is one of the principal partners. Across the life of the project, the agency will be responsible for promoting higher education and managing scholarship programs.
