The award-winning video

The French Minister for Culture and Communication has launched in 2014 a call for projects to all art schools. The objective was to ask students to direct a short film presenting and highlighting education in higher education art schools. The award-winning video, called "Le peuple manque" (The people is missing) was created and directed by Colin Cuercq, a student in HEAR (Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin) in Strasbourg.

Cuerq's video is supposed to be shared with foreign students so they can discover the originality of French education in higher education art and design schools, which mix theory with practice both in workshops and classes, to serve art production.

French higher education art and design schools are peculiar, and are made of a unique network of 41 institutions. They are based on teaching given from artists and theorists, they develop the spirit of teaching art by art, by focusing on experience transfer and conversion of thoughts in acts, to the benefit of the personal project of the student and the acquisition of his autonomy. Those schools put their training in the field of research and innovation at the highest level. They put their students in an environment of art and culture, in modern economy and society and connect them to an international network.
